Miss Evie turned one on Wednesday. It seems like such a magical turning point, she's taken a huge leap in development! She has been practicing new sounds, especially perfecting "no" and "dada." She understands so much. I pointed to a picture of her as a baby and said, "Baby!" She then pointed to some other pictures of babies that we have near the computer, I was amazed that she put it together! She likes to crawl to the doorway when the gate is open and stops, knowing that she's not supposed to go through the gate, and makes noises to call attention to herself. Once I look and talk to her, she starts to go through, laughing and shaking her head until I scoop her up. At night, she points to different objects in her room and we wave "nigh, night" to them.
Evalena has come up with signs to let me know what she wants. She holds her hands out, palms up, and opens and closes her hands when she wants me to pick her up. She twists her hands to say "all done." And when she's looking for her paci, her hand goes up to her mouth.
Miriam has also taken a shine to her baby sister. She loves sleeping in the same room and like for Evie to join her in the toddler bed before I put her into the crib. She kisses her and holds her hand while Evie sucks on her paci, looking comfy and smiling. The other day Miriam said, "Evie's my sizzer. I love her. I give her kiss?" I also found her petting Evie's soft hair and fashioning it into a ponytail. She likes to put things on Evie and dress her up. So much fun having a live doll that has such a good nature!
We're enjoying watching our sweet Evie get older and be a fun part of the family. She really adds to the chaos and joy.
