Teddy turned five this month. I can hardly believe it, and yet he acts so much his age that I have to believe it. Today was his first day of "chores," ok, only one, but it was a big one. He gathered all of the trash cans, emptied them, put new bags in them, and returned them to their homes. He was the model of willingness, although I do not expect that to last!
His birthday party went great! I kind of felt bad that there weren't any kids his age invited until I asked him who he wanted to come to his party. "Uncle Will!!" etc.. He was so excited about his family coming FOR HIM, that I realized I am worrying about nothing. It worked out nicely, though, because our cousins AJ (5yo) and Michael (2yo) accompanied Grandma Great (Sean's Grandma). Teddy seemed as if he realized that five-years-old meant more maturity and responsiblity. He was so sweet to his brothers, let Joshua help him open his presents and blow out the candles, and let Patrick play with his new toys. He also volunteered to give everyone their cake, having his last, Joshua also helped in this endeavor and they truly made the process go a lot faster! I was amazed at how happy he was with his presents and his willingness to cooperate. He is going to be a great big brother!
The day flew by all too fast, we are now counting down to Joshua's birthday :) I am glad it is so easy to please my kids, they really enjoy the simple things.
