I'd like to open with one of the many funny things that happened today. Paddy has decided that going potty is "the thing to do." So he thought he would sit to go potty, then stand, then sit, then stand (mommy complies good naturedly so that Paddy loves the potty and loves using it. I have to lift the lid, lower it, etc.) So I had to apprehend Joe who wanted to check it out, and before I know it, Paddy is sitting and mommy hasn't lowered the lid! PLUNK! ROFL!! Wet bottom. And seriously, it's a good thing I did laugh because had I not, there would have been crying and fear of the potty. (Oh I forgot, he doesn't actually do anything but sit and stand, no pottying, it's definitely a work in progress!)
Joe, Joe, Joe. He is the light of my life, as are any of my babies at this age. So sweet, so cuddly, and a whole bunch of fun. Joseph is now cruising (has been for a while) and crawling, making fun babbly noises, responding to me and showing that he understands a lot of what I say, really trying to eat table food, and generally making everyone laugh. He is so happy and jolly and smiles a huge smile everytime I walk into the room. He loves to eat hair (yup), and likes to play with mine. Every once in a while he gets caught up in a moment of love, grabs my face, and shoves his face into mine. He then tries to eat me.
Recently we found out that he is allergic to blueberries and milk. I am not going to post allergic pictures on this blog, I think he looks terrible and I want to cry since I feel like it's my fault (it's not). He had the worst outbreak of hives I have personally seen (outside of myself). The milk poses a problem since I was counting on weening him at 12 months. My boys don't usually like cow's milk, but they suppliment with cheese and yogurt. Joseph will be unable to eat cheese or yogurt, at least for a while. We'll see how that goes (and if anyone has any suggestions of calcium rich food, even if only fortified, please let me know, it has to be toddler friendly, though!).
Joseph is getting a sense of humor and LOVES to play with the boys. It's easy to see that he wants to run around with them. He has recently started playing the game "throw the object on the ground and see if mommy picks it up." It's a fun game, especially because I recognize the new step in development. He just seems so smart to me, but I suppose all of my babies were/are. He has been a somewhat easy baby although teething means he is mommy's leach, but I don't mind that since I don't plan on having another baby for a while. Everyday he is doing better with sleeping and only waking up one or two times at night. I long for the day that I will sleep through the night, but I know it will be soon.
This is such a fun time of parenthood for us. Our boys are getting older and are listening more. We have so much fun with them and really cherish teaching them about new things. They are sponges with wide-open, cute eyes. We are truly blessed.
